Wired blossoms

HI

I’m going to be decorating a birthday cake with wired cherry blossom and am wondering how appropriate it would be to just place the flowers on top of the cake in terms of food safety. Or would it be better to make a posy of the blossoms and put bunch them up and put them in a posy pick straight into the cake?
Any ideas would be really helpful thanks very much.

Hi bellescakes

As you know wired flowers must not be inserted into cake directly. If you’d like them on the cake like a topper, how about placing them on a decorated cake card? This would form a barrier between the cake and the wires. The card doesn’t necessarily have to be stuck down, it can be removed without causing any damage to to the top of the cake.
Otherwise the wires would need to be inserted into a posy pick as you’ve already mentioned. xx

HI madeitwithlove

Many thanks. I think I will just use the flower pick as it will probably be easier given the cake will need to be transported.
Hope you are keeping well by t he way. xx

HI madeitwithlov
Thanks yes I will use the flower pick and will surround it with some unwired blossom to cover the hole where the pick will have gone into the cake.

I do hope your op goes well and that you make a pain free and speedy recovery. Hopefully you will have lots of bright sunny weather to look forward to which will aid your recovery.
