Wedding cake price

Hi there I’ve been asked to make a 2 tier wedding cake..bottom tier 10″ rich fruit to be fed with good quality brandy and 2nd tier a 3 layer chocolate mud with buttercream and ganache. Decorated with lace appliqués and hand made roses around each base and then on the top tier. I’m also going to be delivering the cake to the venue.

I have made lots of novelty cakes and tiered cakes but this will be my first wedding cake and not sure what to charge. Can anyone advise ?

Many thanks

It,s difficult to give a quote not knowing where you live.I woul ring three local cake shops and ask what they would charge.hand made flowers are time consuming and you need to let your customer know you need to charge for your time

Hi gucci906

Have a peek at the answers here first http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/pricing-a-1-and-2-tiered-book-cake. The advice given by hilaryb is how I would go about it too. It’s better to cost flowers and other decorations separately so the customer knows exactly what is being charged for. The decorations on your cakes will take quite a long time so you must charge accordingly. I don’t know whether you’re a hobbyist like me or in business, but I think you’d really benefit from the pro courses, http://www.cakeflix.com/how-to-run-a-cake-decorating-business, especially if you intend doing more tiered and highly decorated cakes. The courses go through every single aspect of cake business. What and how to charge for cakes was a massive eye opener. for me. x

Hi cjhar7

I could not recommend it more. The Pro Course helps straight away, it’s amazing and pays for itself virtually immediately. I was searching for this reply http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/cake-price from David and I’ve found it. This can say it so much better than I can and will be helpful to you and to gucci906. I think your tiny business will grow into a bigger business from the savings the Pro courses will make. Good luck. x
