Upright tire cake

In Paul’s tire tutorial he doesn’t seem to have layered the 8″ 3″ deep cake at all. I would like to have one layer of filling, but am concerned that that might compromise the stability of the cake. My thought would be to put a layer of ganache that would be in mid cake but parallel to the dummy underneath (as opposed to where we usually slice cakes to layer and fill them). I hope that I’ve explained myself well enough and would appreciate your thoughts .

Hi franke

That’s exactly how I would do it too. The layer would be sturdy enough not to compromise the structure when the centre dowel is inserted through it.
