thin cake cards

Hi

I am making a 3 tier stacked cake. The bottom tier will be 12″ and i am covering a 14″ board to put this on. Does the bottom tier have a thin cake card under it before putting on the covered board or do you just put it on the covered board.

Hi,  , i spread a little buttercream on the board and then place my covered cake on the board, this keeps the cake from moving and stable for transport, especially if there are tiers to be stacked,, hope this helps… 🙂

I don’t add a thin cake card on the bottom tier but do for other tiers. Just add buttercream or royal icing to secure the drum and the cake

i decorate on a thin board but then transfer onto the covered board using a little butercream to secure it to the board. no need for two boards
