Most people use either victoria sponge or madeira, it really is personal choice. White ganache goes equally as well with chocolate cake. White chocolate can be a little sickly, it helps to add a little sharp flavour such as lemon to it. A good oil based lemon extract or any other sharp flavour (oil based) or a liqueur of choice will enhance the taste.
