Sharp edges

Hi. I’ve watched paul cover a round cake on the tutorial. He says he’s not showing how to do super sharp edges here. Can you tell me which tutorial shows this please. Thanks

Hi wardshar

I think you must have watched the round cake in the beginners section? In that video Paul actual shows how to get sharp edges. It is just a continuation of using the two smoothers in the way he is demonstrating, the more the process is done the sharper the edge becomes. He also demonstrates sharp edges in lesson 11 of the Jimmy Choo shoe tutorial http://www.cakeflix.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/the-jimmy-choo-shoe-cake although that is a box shaped cake it does demonstrate well what can be achieved. Hope this helps.

My suggestion would be to always ganache your cake before you place the fondant. In my experience a sharp edge is much more achievable than when using butter cream. Of course you will still have to use the smoothers to achieve the final product. Hope this helps.
