Removing dowels from a cake

Hi made my first 2 tier cake today .  How shall I explain to my customers how to remove the dowels.

Hi Gucci 906, I just pull them out with a pair of tweezers once the top tier has been removed. You can also remove them during slicing the cake, they come straight out without any problems. Hope this helps.

Ha, ha, I had to use pliers (fruit cake).  I saw coloured dowels at http://www.thecakedecoratingcompany.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=570&osCsid=orak4t38suiehj6hrq8asjevl3 which I thought was a good idea.  You can also cut these with scissors.  I always worry about ‘the dowels’ if I am not going to be present when cake is cut.  I place a note on the boxes in case someone who doesn’t know they are there cuts the cake.
