Paul’s chocolate cake tutorial

Paul is seen placing a six inch cake and a 10 inch cake in the oven together for the baking time of two hours. Will both the cakes bake for the same amount of time and on the same temperature bearing in mind the size difference in the tins? Also, should the temperature be reduced if baking in a fan assisted oven?   Thank you.

Hi I put the cakes in at the same temp but bring the small one out a little earlier, we always bake low temp for longer. Px

Hi Sandra, thanks for your response, as you say, two hours is a long time for the 6 inch cake. I’ve decided I can’t take a chance by putting them in together and will bake them separately to avoid either of them sinking or over baking. I usually reduce my oven my 20 degrees but for large cakes I turn down a further 10 degrees, especially madeira. Cheers for now and tnx.
