Hi there. Paul used cake drums when stacking this cake. Can I ask why? When is it best to sue cake cards or cake drums when stacking cakes?

It’s possible Paul used drums on this particular cake because of the size of the tiers for more support ie the 10″ tiers. I’ve noticed he uses cards on the other tall cake tutorials eg chocolate wrap, white summer wedding and the three peaks, which have been carved down, however the tiers are smaller rounds.
I may be wrong, he might just have had drums in stock instead of cards as he does say in the tutorial to stick down the cards ‘or drums which we’re using here today’. I can’t think of any other tutorial where he’s used drums when stacking but I’m sure there must be especially when achieving more height.
