image quality

hi,
i know this isn’t a standard cake decorating question but I was wondering if there is anyone ( perhaps in the photography team) that could advise help.
I manage to take reasonable quality pictures of my cakes and after a little editing, I’m ready to upload to a website.
but they seem to lose quality once I have put them on the website, is there a reason for this?. do I need to change my camara setting ?. I’m using a Canon DSLR

thanks

You might find that your website’s content management system (CMS) system does something that changes the dimensions or pixels. Best to check with your CMS to find out the optimum resolution to upload then adjust the camera settings or edit software to suit. Lots more on photography and camera setting in our Pro Members photography section…..

i just add a little brightness in editing (photoscape) add a small a logo in the corner and then it all looks good so i upload to a website …. but I have just looked into this and I’m assuming I have to optimise my images, my image dimensions were-3456 x 2304, so is this too big ? I didn’t think to optimise would affect the quality of an image.
thanks
