Grand piano cake

Hi I have been asked to make a grand piano cake and for it to be standing. I feel very daunted by this and wonder whether I should just say no. I have no idea where to begin for the support. I would need to build a base onto 3 wooden legs and carve a piece of wood??? Is there an easier way? Maybe have a 6″ square cake siting central underneath ?? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Hi gucci906

If you search in google images there are several grand piano cake tutorials. I would give you a link but there are quite a few to choose from and you may not like the one I choose. Hope you find one you like, x

Hi
I made a cake like this for my daughters 16th Birthday.
I was just starting to make cakes when I made this and I cut a cake board to the size I needed, and covered the cut edge with grease proof paper, stuck down with ganache. I used 3 cake support pillars for the legs.
If you go to me facebook page I think its in an album Birthdays. Jackie – The Cake Lady.
I could not see any tutorials when I made this a couple of years ago.
Good Luck.

Hi, Thanks, I just used royal icing, but then did not have to move it, so you could set the pillars into the bottom board and leave to set and then put the cake on top when you set it up. Good Luck
