Hi, are food paint and icing colour the same thing? I’m looking to have a go at Paul’s fab Halloween pumpkin boy cake and have a set of Wilton icing colours, but I’m not sure if they’re the right thing to use. Thanks

There is a difference when using food colours. Liquid colours change the consistency of sugarpaste and not suitable for use in this medium. The Wilton set colours are fine as they as gels and will not affect the consistency unless huge amounts are used. If you want to make darker shades always begin with a coloured base and not white.
