Fondant icing sugar

Hi
Does anyone know if ordinary fondant icing sugar, with added coconut extract, can be substituted for Squires coconut fondant icing mix please? Any help would be great thanks.

HI bellscakes

Do you mean flavouring pouring fondant? If it is, you can make it any flavour you like.
However if you mean flavouring sugarpaste, yes you can flavour that too, drop by drop and kneading it in. Don’t overdo it because the consistency of the paste may become compromised. xx
ps let me know if I’ve understood your question or not. x

Hi madeitwithlove

Thanks yes I think it’s pouring fondant made up from a packet fondant icing sugar. It’s certainly not sugar paste. I just wasn’t sure if the Squires coconut fondant icing mix was somehow different from say the Tate & Lyle fondant mix, other than the fact I’d need to add the coconut extract of course. Any ideas?

Thanks

I’ve used the fruity pouring fondants from Squires and really it’s no different to the stuff we buy in the supermarket. The only difference of course is the intense flavour. If you use a good coconut flavouring I would think it would produce the same results. I use Tate and Lyle with Neilson Massey extracts or with Foodie flavours extracts. x
