Flavouring a cake

Hi
Making a wedding cake for a friend. She wants the bottom tier to be chocolate and orange. Planning on making a 12 inch round chocolate cake using Paul’s recipe. What is the best way to get an orange flavour running through the cake.

Hi mtfhayes

The quickest way to flavour the cake batter is by using orange flavoured cocoa powder. This is what I use sometimes: http://www.sugarandcrumbs.co.uk/product/250g-chocolate-orange-cocoa-powder-gluten-free-cocoa-powder/
Substitute it for the same amount as used in the recipe. It gives a wonderful intense aroma and flavour once cooked . To see other brands, google ‘orange flavoured cocoa powder’. If you prefer not to go this route, please take a peek at my answer here: https://www.cakeflix.com/questions/adding-flavings-to-pauls-chocolate-cake-recipe

Hope you find the information useful.
