? Dimensions for double-barrel, 2 tier wedding cake for 120 people…

Hello, Firstly, thank you so much for sharing your videos about tackling a double-barrelled cake. I feel much more able to give it a go now.

My question is regarding the size of cakes to go for, for a pleasing aesthetic. I would normally go 12,9,6 inch for a 3 tier stacked. With the 2 tiers and the stacking, what is the nicest ratio?

Many thanks

Hi Jakki111

Traditionally cake tiers graduate in two size difference ie 12, 10, 8 so forth or similarly with uneven sizes. Nowadays it seems to be a mix of sizes according to what people want. For inspiration, have a look through the tutorial library and also google, pinterest other cake plateforms. You’ll see the different mixes to include double barrel cakes. and extended tiers. You can also use stacked cake pans or dummy cakes to get a feel of what would look good.
