Cake Dummy height

Ok, i have now received my cake dummies and ready for decorating them to enable me to build a portfolio.  I ordered 3 sizes, 10 inch, 8inch and 6 inch in order to represent a tiered cake.  They are 3 inch high… but when stacked then really do not look very impressive.

Whats the secret for extra height in between please… cake drum ?  what would you usually do with a tiered wedding cake, my assumption was you used cake card on the base of the other tiers ?

Thank you as always 🙂

Hi

Yes cake drums are used for extra height, but also by the time real cakes are filled, and covered, they do increase quite a bit 🙂

Depending on the design your after cake drums will give you the flexibility with height. Sometimes though when you look at the cakes on there own before covering and sugarpaste they don’t look much, but certainly worth experimenting.

Kind regards, David

I’ve bought 4″ dummy’s before and there a real pain for covering. I prefer to Use the 3″ and glue them to two drums.
