Any regalice users?

Have they changed their ingredients?? Since the new packaging the consistency isn’t the same. It’s become stretchy and almost unusable. I’m not sure if it’s down to the warm weather but I’m getting so many air bubbles. It’s also so stretchy and when kneading it’s popping like bubblegum. This do far has been with black and chocolate brown. Anyone else finding this?

Hi gucci906

This appears to be an ongoing problem as you can see here:

renshaws sugarpaste

renshaw sugarpaste

There are a few more general comments here http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/coloured-sugarpaste
and also if you type in the search box ‘sugarpaste’ you’ll come across other comments which may be relevant to your question.

As a short term solution you could try adding a small amount of tylose, cmc or gum tragacanth to your paste just enough to give it some stability. I start with half a teaspoon to 500g of paste, knead it in and let it rest for a while. If it’s still tearing add a little more but not over 1 teaspoon otherwise you may end up with gumpaste!
I had the same nightmare with lime green and have now completely stopped using Renshaw’s regalice.
As you’ll see in one of my answers I contacted the manufacturer. They did ask if I would let them have what I had but I’d thrown it out They sent me 750g samples of the new recipe which is still problematic.
It may be worth contacting them.

I had a problem with the regal ice in white last week, it was very soft and kept cracking,I noticed it is called Décor-Ice now, I thought it was only me and maybe I had got a bad batch, but see others are having problems.

Hi

Well after my family and I eating lots of cakes with different fondant/sugarpaste to find the best one here are my results.

Culpitt… too grainy/sugary and did not like working with it as it seemed to be quite dry.

Satin Ice… did not like the flovour, very marshmallow, but great to work with.

Sattina…very sugary, tasted horrible,

Here is my favourite fondant – sugarpaste it is from Sugarpaste Direct
www.sugarpastedirect.co.uk

Its great work with.
Its lovely and smooth in your mouth, and not grainy.
Its not too sweet.

Let me know if you try it and how you get on.

I have also converted a friend to use it and she loves it too.
