1. Carving the body

In this lesson, Rose shows us how to form the shape of the body and legs from the two eight-inch round cakes. The key is to cut little bits at a time and keep spinning and moving the cake making sure that you are keeping things equal.

7. Making the feet/ skates

Rose first of all adds a cute little tongue using some coloured sugarpaste and with the same sugarpaste creates the feet. She then creates some simple skates which the feet sit on then are set aside to dry before getting the airbrush out.

8. Airbrushing

You’ll be pleased to know that there is only one airbrush colour used and it’s all about creating shades around the body. If you don’t have an airbrush it will be difficult to get the same kind of results but you could use a large flush brush and dab on some dry dust.

9. Painting the eyes

Rose now gets the dusts and paintbrushes out to help bring the penguin to life by painting it’s eyes.

10. Covering the board

Rose shows us how to cover the board around the penguin which is actually quite tricky and time-consuming. You could cover the board before adding the penguin but the risk you run is getting it covered in paint when it comes to airbrushing and so on.
