1. Making the Wraps

Struggling for time? Why not watch the highlights video by clicking here.

Danielle’s sought after wrap technique has drawn a lot of attention to her and her unique cake designs. You will be amazed and relieved to see just how simple it is. As long as you roll out the correct shape and thickness of sugarpaste, you cannot fail. Create a fat lip shape (or a croissant shape) of sugarpaste in your hand and then roll it out. Once you have done that, cut away the excess and fold in the edges to create nice rounded edges, then a crease down the centre using your middle finger positioned underneath, while pinching it with your thumb and index finger with your other hand. And you’re done! Now it’s just a case of attaching it to the cake with some water (if you’re fast) or some edible glue. Now it’s onto the next lesson where we will complete the cake! This has to be a record…

2. Making and Adding English Roses

These English roses are beautiful, yet so so simple to make. As you won’t spend a great deal of time making these you can easily start from scratch by squashing the sugarpaste into a ball again. Just make sure you shape all the petals with three movements as Danielle has and don’t get carried away with trying to perfect them as they will take shape once they are put together. You will need a little bit of thickness in the petals as you will pull them around the previous petal. Remember that each petal you add needs to be placed a little higher than the centre one. If you are confident with your hands and don’t feel you will misshape them then you can place them on the cake right away. Otherwise you will want to give them a good amount of drying time and Danielle suggests leaving them overnight. Once you have added some elegant snowflake lustre, the cake will be complete! You can now stand back in awe of just how quickly you have created this elegant design and share some lovely pictures on our Facebook page, as well as Danielle’s.
