Chocolate cake for breakfast? Yes, please!

It’s the good news we’ve all been waiting for… having chocolate cake for your breakfast could actually be good for your health.

Top food guru and culinary director at the advertising firm Sterling-Rice Group, Liz Moskow, has told the Food Business News that she predicts 2017 will be the year we see chocolate cake pop up on brunch menus across the land.

Singing the praises of cocoa, Moskow told the website; “There was a study that recently came out from Syracuse University re-touting the benefits of dark chocolate, specifically on cognitive function — abstract reasoning, memory, focus.

“The thought was eating chocolate prepares you more for your workday, so what better day part to incorporate dark chocolate into your meal than breakfast?”

We couldn’t agree more, Liz. What better way to stock up on precious endorphins? However, this health trend comes with a word of warning – and it’s all about size. Amuse-bouche chocolate cakes are the right size to enjoy the health benefits without piling on the pounds, as a study from Tel Aviv University found.

“Combining those two studies and the likeability of having dessert for breakfast, we predict that breakfast might start seeing brunch amuse-bouche chocolate cakes or brunch and breakfast restaurants incorporating a robust dessert menu,” she added.
