Wright Toffee Cake Mix

Hi
The recipe on the packet of Wrights Toffee cake advises baking it in a 2lb loaf tin but I’d lilke to bake it in a round tin, preferable a deep one or 2x8inch sandwich tins. Can anyone tell me what size of round tin 1 packet of this mix would need please and also what temperature and cooking time? Thanks very much.

Hello bellscakes

You’ll find Wrights measures here http://www.wrightsflour.co.uk/recipe.aspx?recipeid=298

EDIT

I only use 1 packet for an 8″ round which gives a 2″ tall cake. If you use their recommended amount just make the tin lining fairly tall otherwise it will go over the top. You may also need to bake it on for slightly longer than they say, that’s for you to judge. x

Hi I emailed them and they suggested 2 packets for an 8″ round cake which I do and it works well

Hi madeitwithlove and ctennant
Many thanks for you help. Actually I had a look on Wright website and noticed there is a section, under wedding cakes, that lists the number of packets of cake mx needed for various sizes of cake tins which I thought was quite good especially if you are using the mixes for a wedding x

Hi,

I know I am late to the toffee party but @bellscakes do you have a copy of the various packet amounts? They no longer seem to have this information which is a shame.

Hi jlricard1

Take a peek in the wedding section for amounts:

Wedding Cakes

They have downloadable recipes too. Hope this helps. ?

Hi Jlrickard1

I have just looked through my notebooks and have drawn a blank I’m really sorry.

If you have already contacted Wrights and hit a brick wall, I would get in touch with the customer service team to ask if they have archived this information? It would be strange, in my view, if they hadn’t as it’s part of the company’s history after all.

A few years ago I contacted the editor of Woman’s Weekly to ask for a recipe for a hedgehog cake recipe they’d featured in their magazine many years ago, and the editor very kindly looked it out and emailed it to me.

Good luck x

Hi again JLrickard1

I have just looked on Wright’s cake mixes website and notice that say for the coffee and walnut cake – they use 1x500gr bag of madeira cake for a deep 71/2 inch round cake tin. If it were me I’d buy 2x500gr cake mixes and what is left after filling your cake tins I’d bake some fairy cakes. xx

Cake recipes and tin sizes are given In the menu section. Most of their sizes can easily be converted for larger cakes. If I can find their booklet, I’ll post here the suggested pan sizes.

Hi everyone, thanks so much for your responses. I did email them and they got straight back to me with the same link. I gave it a go but made a school boy error and just followed the instructions blindly. Two packets of the toffee was too much for my 8″ pan so we had a small explosion. Oops, you live and learn! x

Oh dear that’s a shame though as you said we all live and learn. x
