upside down wedding cake

I will be making a three tier rich fruit wedding cake for February 2015 .I will be making the cakes 4″ deep to give extra height. but need advice on how to stack as the cake will be a upside down wedding cake I plan to put a center dowel that is fixed to the stand that i am having made and slide the cakes on top of each other over the center dowel. but i am worried about all the weight going on the smallest cake. what would you suggest. i was thinking of 6,9,12 inch cakes, any guidance most appreciated.

Hello sleepyjean

You’ve obviously thought through about the centre support. You will also need to dowel all the cakes as Paul shows us in the tutorials. Another thing you could look at is this https://cakestackers.com/instructions
I’ve never done an upside down design, perhaps the instructions will give you a better idea for other aspects of support you will require. Hopefully other members will chip in with ideas and information. G’d luck, I’m sorry I can’t help more.
