Sugar Shapers

Has anybody tries these silicon shapers, and if so did they go for the soft or firm set? I wondered if it was worth investing in these or just getting clay shapers. Any input would be appreciated. :-)) Mags

Hi,

I have the soft tip ones and I love them, wouldn’t be without them. I believe there isn’t much difference between the soft and firm and more of a matter of how naturally heavy handed you are (hence why I bought soft tip!)

Hope that helps,
Yvonne

Hi MaggieH

In my experience from the clay shapers, the different tips, sizes, textures and density are for a variety of jobs. It depends really what kind of projects you will be undertaking with the shapers. Softer tips are needed for delicate sculpting, wiping paint and shading, while the harder tips for texturing, scrapping and for more defined work. I don’t own the cake decorating tips, perhaps they are of a different quality. I expect the clay ones would be ok providing they can come into contact with food.

Hi MaggieH

I’ve just had a quick look online for more information and found this at the cake decorating company:
http://www.thecakedecoratingcompany.co.uk/firm-tip-sugar-shaper-tools-by-innovative-sugarworks?gclid=CK3jk7722sUCFWoJwwodOJoAQw

Seems they keep both hard and soft tips. Both have good product information and useage advice.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the input, I think I will get a couple of cheap clay ones to try and then invest in the sugar shapers. Appreciate your comments.
