Rugby Ball Cake using a Pyrex bowl

Hii
I’m going to be making a rugby ball shaped cake in October.
I have seen in previous posts that the best way to get the shape is to use 2 Pyrex bowls.

How do I work out how much cake mixture to use and then how much to charge?
I am guessing that a 1 litre bowl will take an 8″ cake – this is purely a guess.

Please can someone share some cakery knowledge with me so that I can take the guess work out of this situation!

P.S the advice that I have had in the past about my Guinness cake and gateau was fantastic and both cakes turned out well.Thank you!

Thanks in advance
Rachael

Hello Rachel

For converting any round tin recipe to hemisphere/pyrex bowl have a look here

RECIPE CONVERSIONS FOR BALL CAKE TINS

Also type in the search box ‘hemisphere pan’
for more answers which may help you with timing. You’ll have to watch your timing if using a glass bowl because glass takes longer to get up to temperature, the baking time may need to be increased. It may have to be an eye and nose job! x
