Piano cake

I would like to make the piano cake but don’t have an air brush and I don’t really want to use black sugar paste as I find it difficult to work with also it doesn’t taste very nice,any suggestions please

Hello Donna

If you don’t want to use black, how about a different colour and making the piano your very own?! If you look in google images you’ll be amazed at the different coloured pianos. However if you still want to make it black, start with a brown or chocolate sugarpaste base (that would taste nice) and paint it black with gel paste and vodka. Try out painting on brown first before launching straight in on the real cake. You may not like the effect and I wouldn’t want your project to be spoiled. Alternatively use a black edible paint spray on a dark base like brown. If you do it on a light base it’ll take forever to cover and taste horrible. To prevent streaking with edible spray paint, adhere to the instructions on the can. Here’s a suppliers link for edible black spray:
