Metallic gold piped icing

Hi! I’m hoping to decorate a cake with some metallic gold piped icing, but as a beginner I’m not sure how to achieve this finish. I’m hoping not to have to paint the metallic colour onto the already piped icing, as it think it’ll be pretty fiddly! Thanks in advance for any help you can give x

I have had really good success with Gold edible spray – I would make the piping in a silicone mould, flick it out onto paper and spray with gold, wait for it to dry – doesn’t take long, then lay around your cake.

Hope that helps 🙂

Ah, thank you so much for your help. I’m making a crown which I’m going to spray, but the piped icing is quite delicate and will be piped directly onto the cake, so I can’t spray it. I haven’t really found any good moulds (it’s a Game of Thrones cake, so I’ve looked for dragons, swords, etc but haven’t found much at all).
Thanks again x
