Letter and number cutters

Hi, I’m looking for some advice on which alphabet and number cutters are good to buy. I don’t really like the fmm tappits find them a bit tricky. I’d like something simple and easy to use but looks good too. Thanks.

Hello flans

There are all sorts of alphabet and number cutters, depends really on the type of look you want. Tappits and Click cutters give the most variety in styles. Click cutters have like a built in plunger so the paste is pushed out quite easily. Metal cutters are easier to use but are pretty plain.
Tappits can be tricky at first, I almost threw mine away out of frustration! The secret is to roll the gumpaste out really thin, let it dry for a couple of seconds and then cut. Flick the paste out or use a pin to lift out. I find Mexican paste works best as the letters and numbers keep their shape better.
If you type ‘tappits’ in the above search box you see lots of answers and also links to video tutorials. I hope you find them helpful. It would be a shame to stop using your tappits, they’re really great once mastered.

Thank u so much for the advice. Think I’ll give the tappits another go and see can I master them. Think I mightn’t be using the right paste, think it’s not strong enough. Thanks again
