Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A

How far in advance do you make your customers cakes?

0

Hi was just wondering how far in advance everyone makes their cakes for customers. That’s bakes and decorated. I have been baking 2 days before..decorating the day after. Thinking to do it a bit earlier just in case of errors.

I make my cakes 1 week before and freeze it then a couple of days before decorating (depends the design)…I will defrost it as it makes it easier to carve (if you need to) and takes the pressure off…also as when decorating you need the sugar paste to set for about 12 hrs before adding decos..hope it was helpful…but I’m sure the team will answer more into depth x

Im looking to freeze cakes that im making for a wedding in September (1st one panic lol)

Is it ok to freeze about 6 weeks before?

Do you add any sugar syrup before freezing?

Whats the best way to wrap them?

Do you level and torte them before freezing?

Sorry to butt in and ask so many questions but have never frozen a cake before and dont want to do it wrong.

I thnk its a really good idea to freeze them and take away some of the stress.
