Decorating with chocolate cigarillos

I’m making a three tier sponge wedding cake and want to decorate with chocolate cigarillos. Can I use ganache to fix them or is it better to stick to buttercream? Also will I have a problem stacking them if they are not iced?

I’d use ganache for the glue, it sets harder, reducing the risk of the cigarellos shifting. You shouldn’t have any problems with stacking, there are lots of tutorials in youtube showing how to stack naked cakes. Search in youtube ‘how to stack naked cakes’, you’ll see one from Superfine bakery and others.
I prefer Paul’s method of dowelling to the one shown by superfine bakery demonstrator but her filling technique could be benefical when sticking the cigarellos

Superfine bakery demonstrator uses florist wire directly into cake which is not permitted in the UK
