hi, am going to have a go at Mrs Jones coffee and walnut cake, but what is the best way to flavour the butterceam, is it coffee in boiling water, and if so, how much ? thanks, gerry

Make a thick paste with hot water and instant coffee, let it cool and add to the buttercream when beating. How strong or weak is up to you. Make up a table spoon of coffee paste, add a little at a time, taste it and see whether you think it’s enough. Add more if you want it stronger. If you find one tablespoon is not strong enough more can be added. Vanilla extract or brandy enhances coffee flavour.
