In the Crystal Palace 2, Paul seems to cover the lace mat twice, is this necessary, as it going to add a lot of time to the edible lace making, I don’t think he has done it in previous tutorials, thanks

Paul covered the cake lace twice to give it more strength. The white lace isn’t as strong as the gold, giving it a double application does give a better end result. I think in the previous tutorials the product was new to Paul and he was experimenting with it as just anyone else would with something new. I remember Claire Bowman saying in one of her videos that it is worth giving white lace a double coating because, apart from being stronger, it releases better. I cover twice and find it doesn’t really increase the time significantly.

It’s really lovely. I was so apprehensive the first time but when I saw the results I ended up buying more mats at the show. Just let it dry completely and it will come off without any problems at all. Enjoy!
