Baking Courses

Hi,

I’m looking for some help please. I’d like to attend some baking courses (unfortunately Mrs Jones is a wee bit too far away from me as I’m in Bedfordshire), as I’d like to improve my cakes (I’d eventually like to run a home based business) & learn a new variety of flavours/recipes too.

I’ve done some research & have come across the ABC Patisserie & Confectionery course. I’ve contacted the college for some details & am awaiting a response. I’ve also looked at The Squires Kitchen School Baking for Cake Decorating course. Has anyone attended either of these courses? I’d be grateful for some feedback. Or can you recommend any others? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

HI tickle123

There are so many baking courses availble now either online or by attending privately run speciality schools. Really it depends what type of course you’re looking for, whether long term or short workshops. Squire’s Kitchen has an excellent reputation. Paul mentions in the three chocolate tower tutorial what a great day he had. I’ve also read comments from students on other forums how much they rated SK. If you’re looking for something long term which will give you a certification I’d suggest looking at your local college and those in your surrounding and comutable areas. Some colleges run partime courses which they work out less expensive than regular workshops. You may also have a baking circle in your area, best place to inquire would be in your local library. I don’t know what age group you fall in, I do know most local authorities will advise you if you’re entitled to free/subsidised training if it will lead you to gainful employment or self employment. Worth the enquiry.
