Hi Arunima

I bake a similar recipe to this one http://happyhomebaking.blogspot.co.uk/2008/04/french-almond-cake.html
It’s very easy and tastes lovely with a little warm honey syrup. There are thousands of other recipe to choose from online, you just need to keep trying some until you find a keeper. Same goes for chocolate cake.
I bake Paul’s moist chocolate cake recipe which can be found in the free section. I would advise that you browse the comments, hints and tips here http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/pauls-moist-chocolate-cake-my-feed-back
You’ll find another good recipe here http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4577/wedding-cake-rich-dark-chocolate-cake
And an extended shelf life recipe here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/how-to-make-chocolate-mud-cake

Any cake recipe can be scaled up or down using either the ready reckoner or the cakeometre here

The macaron recipe in the blog which you have tried is an easy basic type. Macarons are made with sugar and almonds, by ingredient they are naturally going to be sweet. Again, there are many recipes and fillings ideas online which if explored , will eventually yield a keeper. I hope you discover one which you like.
