Is flour paste the same as gum paste? I tried googling, but I got something that has to do with distilling moonshine, which I have a feeling may be not what Paul is talking about here!
    Thanks!

    • PunkMom

Nevermind…I just realized he meant FLOWER paste, lol. I think it’s the cold meds – or at least that is the story I’m sticking with!

      Hi,

Thank you for getting in touch. This lesson on the Dreseden tool, is just to demonstrate how to use this tool. However if you would like to learn how to make a cake and to decorate with icing, we have a great free tutorial available on how to make a handbag cake. The techniques learnt from this course can be applied to various different cakes. I hope this helps!

  12. NicholeClinton

Thank you for the information. As a beginner it’s very expensive to get everything you need and good turn tables can cost. My question is…can you make your own turn table?

    • Danielle (Staff)

      Hi Nichole,

Thanks for getting in touch. Absolutely! Why not?! We got ours from Ikea for relatively cheap, so search on the web such as amazon/ebay etc and you may get it cheaper too! πŸ™‚

I hope this helps! Thanks, Danielle x

  14. Mairead

Fantastic. I know now what tools to get. I also know how to ice a Cake board which I had not a clue how to do before. I am at the moment doing a 80th Birthday Cake and a 8″ square Birthday Cake for April so I am well happy. Just wanting to know what is better, Roll out icing or Royal Icing for a Fruit cake with no almond icing. Can anyone help?

    • Danielle (Staff)

Hi Mairead, thanks for getting in touch and I am glad to learn that you are enjoying the tutorials so far πŸ™‚ I hope you continue to enjoy them! It is entirely up to yourself what method you use and what you are most comfortable with. I must say Royal Icing can be rather difficult to master and is often very hard when it solidifies therefore quite difficult to eat. We have lots of fondant tutorials available on our site – feel free to take a look and see which one you prefer. Otherwise, we have a fruit cake recipe available too – you can check it out here:) http://www.designer-cakes.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/mrs-jones-fruit-cake
I hope this helps:) D xx

I can’t watch the video’s. The video’s are way to big for the page. I only see a third of the video sadly. That’s the only reason why I won’t buy a full membership once I have the money. I am on my phone. It probably will be better on a computer but the mobile website isn’t great.

    • Danielle (Staff)

Hi Cynber96. Thank you for getting in touch and I am sorry you are unable to watch the tutorials on your mobile phone. Our site has been enabled to be mobile friendly, however depending on the type of phone it may not be compatible. We are launching a fully mobile compatiable website in the next few months so watch this space! Your learning experience, will most definitely be more enjoyable! D xx
