A while ago we launched our very own Q and A section on the website. We did it quietly while we tested the water and it turns out, it’s a great success!
So, as a thank you, we have developed what we think is a great reward system for contributing your great questions and answers.
We currently have three main rewards based on the points you accumulate from submitting and answering questions.
These rewards range from a 3 month free trial membership for a friend to a LIFETIME FREE MEMBERSHIP for you!
The Rewards System
And now the rewards for the points and voting system. Why even have a voting system for the question and answers?
Well, there are two main reasons;
Firstly, we feel that it’s important to keep the answers and questions relevant and beneficial to all our members. So, with a voting system you can easily and quickly see which questions are the most popular and which answers are most relevant and useful to everyone. Which means you’ll be able to pick up the best hints and tips at a glance.
Secondly, because we want to say thank you! This Q and A is built up mainly by your knowledge and your contribution to our site. So, we wanted a way to reward you for that and what better way to do that than let you decide who gets rewarded?
Each time you vote a question up or down the member who posted that question will receive a point or have a point deducted, the same goes for answers and the same goes for your own questions and answers. The more points you accumulate, the bigger the reward. Simple.
Let’s get down to the rewards. Currently, we’re offering the following three rewards based on the points you accumulate, and they are:
250points – FREE 3 month trial to the site for you or a friend.
500points – Six months FREE membership.
1000points – FREE Lifetime membership.
Now, 1000points might seem like a lot but the truth is we don’t know how long it will take to get there, so while it might take a while, we feel we’ve made that reward worth it. We might even add more prizes to the list over time, have weekends where we’re feeling particularly point generous or even decrease these reward targets but for now, good luck getting the reward you’re after and most importantly, let’s create an amazing online resource for cake decorators.
Thanks and happy caking!

I’m fairly new to this site and was wondering what it means when I have to accept an answer from a question I have asked. I understand the voting system for liking questions but could not find anything about accepting an answer.

Hi Scarlet,
It really just means that you have resolved your questions. So it if was about a problem with a cake and you have now solved the problem you might want to mark the answer that helped you out .
Hope that helps. We are working on making all this a bit more clear.
Cheers

I currently use the recipe for Flowerpaste that comes with the Mallow Russe from the Icing house. It’s a fantastic medium for making flowers with. It has a long drying time, allowing you longer to work. What I would like to know is if it is any use as a 50/50 mix with fondent for making Modelling paste – anyone tried this?

Hi lynda,
A 50 / 50 mix is exactly what you should use for models , it gives a bit more body to your model but still doesn’t dry quite as fast as flower paste , cheaper still get some typo powder and add it to your sugar paste as your going , as you know flower paste is expensive , sugar paste and typo is much cheaper . Hope this helps .

Hi Jayess,
Yeah voting for a question is like saying ” i think this is a good questions” so if a question has a lot of votes but no answers then that would be a good question for Paul to come and answer. If you vote for an answer you are just saying i think that’s correct or helpful. So keep voting for the questions too
Yeah you can vote for any question or answer at any time going back right to the beginning.
Hopefully all this should make the Q&A a even better place for everyone
Cheers

Hi Paul, thanks for clearing that up. I think it is important to make members aware of the voting process as I was only viewing answers and questions and thinking to myself ‘that’s a good answer’ and not voting. I wasn’t sure exactly what the voting system was about. I actually thought it was more a case of voting because no-one knew the answer and we needed to get Pauls attention :0). Can we go back over questions and vote retrospectively?
As there aren’t many posts here do you think members are noticing this area?

Hi Jayess,
Thanks for your comments. You only get a point if someone votes for your answer/comment so you are free to keep saying thank you to people
I don’t think many people would vote anyone’s comments down but if you think someone is incorrect and vote that answer down it helps the better answers come to the top. Maybe your right though maybe you should not loose points for anything. I’ll talk to the team about that.
Thanks for your feedback
Marion – I’m not sure myself since I’m just the IT guy
but there are a few similar questions in the Q&A.

If you don’t your find answer in any of those questions you should ask a new question by clicking “ask a question”

Seems a nice idea but sometimes when we post we are just thanking someone for their advice. I wouldn’t want to stop doing that! I also wouldn’t want to contribute to anyone getting a point deducted!

How long does a chocolate ganache cake last for that is not kept in the fridge?
